Acts 21:1-23:11
Key Verse: 23:11
* GOING ON TO JERUSALEM (21:1-36)
1. Trace Paul's journey to Syria and on to Jerusalem. What counsel did disciples in Tyre and God's servants in Caesarea give Paul? Why did he not accept their warnings?
2. Upon his arrival, what did Paul do? (Ro.15:25-27,31) How was he received?
3. What concern of the Christian Jews in Jerusalem overshadowed Paul's report? What did they ask him to do? Why? What does this show about them? What assurance did they give him? How did he comply?
4. What happened in the temple? Who stirred up the crowd? How was Paul rescued from the violent mob?
* PAUL'S TESTIMONY TO THE CROWD (21:37-22:29)
5. How did he get permission to speak to the crowd? What does this show about him? What were Paul's credentials as a Jew? How had he demonstrated his zeal for God? (1-5)
6. How did he describe his meeting with the Risen Jesus? Who was Ananias and how did he help Paul in Damascus? (6-16)
7. Upon his return to Jerusalem, what warning and instructions did Jesus give him? Why did he think the Jews in Jerusalem would listen to him? (17-21) What in his testimony angered them? Why? (22)
* PAUL TRIED BEFORE THE SANHEDRIN (22:30-23:11)
8. Why did the centurion halt the flogging of Paul? Why did he send him to the Sanhedrin? (What was the Sanhedrin? )
9. How did he anger the high priest? How did he manage to throw the Sanhedrin into confusion? What do these things show about Paul's courage? His wisdom? How could he be so bold?
10. How did the Lord strengthen and encourage him? How is this encouragement
related to his mission? What can we learn from this ? Can you think of
other times when God protected his servants? (1Ki. Ps.23:4)
