Acts: 27-28
Key Verse: 28:20b
* PAUL'S VOYAGE TO ROME (27:1-44)
1. Review the Lord's leading in Paul's life that gave him assurance that he would go to Rome to testify to Jesus. (19:21; 22:21; 23:11; Ro.1:10,11)
2. Describe the journey from Caesarea to Crete. Where did they change ships? What advice did Paul give the centurion in Fair Havens? What was his decision? Why? What kind of person was he? (1-12)
3. On the way from Fair Havens to Phoenix on the coast of the Island of Crete, what happened? (13-20) What was done in an effort to save the ship? What can we learn about the deceptiveness of gentle winds?
4. After they gave up hope of being saved, how did Paul encourage them? (21-26) What can we learn here about the value of the counsel of men who have God's word, in contrast with the advice of "experts"?
5. As they approached land, what crisis occurred? How did Paul deal with it? (26-32) Contrast his attitude with that of the officers in charge. What can we learn from him?
6. How did Paul continue to give courage and direction to the journey team? How did he plant faith in God among them and help them overcome fear? Why was this important? How did they all get ashore? (33-34)
* KIND PEOPLE ON THE ISLAND OF MALTA (28:1-10)
7. What happened on the Island of Malta? How did God turn an adverse situation into an opportunity for fruitful witness and ministry? (See Mark 16:18) How can we learn faith that overcomes the situation?
* FINALLY PAUL ARRIVED AT ROME (28:11-31)
8. Describe the last leg of the journey. How was the way prepared for Paul's life and ministry in Rome? (11-16)
9. What was Paul's initial testimony to the Jews in Rome? (17-20) What did he mean by "because of the hope of Israel"? How did he continue to teach them? (23) What were the key points of his Bible teaching?
10. How did the Jews respond to his teaching? How did Paul view their
rejection? How did God use it to open a wider door? Describe Paul's ministry
in Rome. What can we learn from him?
