Ephesians 6:1-9

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”

 * CHILDREN AND PARENTS (1-4)

1. What is the duty of children towards their parents? (1) What does "obey" mean? "In the Lord?" Think of some child-parent relationships in the Bible.

2. What should children’s attitude towards their parents be? (2, Ex 20:12) What blessings will they receive when they keep God’s command? (3) What does it mean to "honor" one's father and mother?

3. How should parents raise their children? (4) Why should they not exasperate their children?

* SLAVES AND MASTERS (5-9)

4. With what attitudes should slaves obey their masters? (5) How can verses 6-7 relate to our work ethic, as employees? Why should we obey our human masters? (8)

5. How should masters treat their slaves? (9) Why should they not threaten them? (9b)

6. What is the common truth in the relationships between parents and children and between masters and slaves? How are Christian ethics different than worldly ethics?
