JESUS CHRIST, THE
SON OF GOD
Hebrews 1:1-2:4
Key verse: 1:3
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact
representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After
he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the
Majesty in heaven.”
- THE SON IS SUPERIOR TO ANGELS (1:1-14)
- How did God speak in the past to reveal himself to men?
(1) How did God speak in these last days? (2) What difference does it
make that God “has spoken to us by his Son”? (2, Cf. John 1:18, Ps 2:8)
- Who is Jesus? (3, John 1:14) Where is he? What did he do
for us? What does he do now?
- How do the Scriptures of the Old Testament testify to
Jesus’ superiority over angels? (Ps 2:7, 2 Sam 7:14, Deut 32:43, Ps 104:4,
Ps 45:6-7, Ps 102:25-27, 110:1) In what respects is Jesus superior to
angels? (14)
- Based on what you have observed in verses 4-14, how would
you answer the question “who is Christ?”
- WARNING TO PAY ATTENTION (2:1-4)
- Why must we pay careful attention to what God has spoken
to us? (2:1, 2) What does it mean “pay more careful attention” and “do not
drift away”?
- What was the great salvation announced, confirmed and
testified? Why can we not ignore such a great salvation?
