John 13:1-38

* JESUS SHOWS AN EXAMPLE OF LOVE (1-17)
1. Why was this Passover time very serious occasion for Jesus? (1) What did he do? What does it mean that "he now showed them the full extent of his love? (R.S.V.: "he loved them to the end") Think about Jesus' faithfulness and his unconditional love. (Heb.13:8; Rev.1:8)
2. What did Jesus know about Judas? Why was Judas vulnerable to Satan's attack?
3. What did Jesus know about himself? (3) Knowing this, why did he get up from the table and wash his disciples' feet? What can we learn from this about Jesus?
4. Describe Peter's reaction. (6,8a,9) What was his problem? What did Jesus tell him? (7,8b,10) What is the spiritual meaning of having had a bath or washing feet? Who else was on Jesus' mind? (10-11)
5. Look at verses 12-17. What was Jesus trying to show them by washing their feet? (14,15) Why did they need this teaching? What did he mean by,..."you will be blessed if you do them"?
