* JESUS CHANGES WATER INTO WINE (1-11)

1. Where was the wedding and who was there? What kind of atmosphere does a wedding suggest? What does Jesus' presence there tell us about him? About God's view of marriage? (See Ge 2:18-25)

2. What problem arose? Who noticed it and what did she do about it? Why? How did Jesus answer? Why do you think he answered like this? (Compare 19:26) How is Jesus' time different from his mother's? (7:6,8; 12:23; 17:1)

3. How did Mary respond to Jesus' seeming rejection? How did she make an environment in which he could work? What can we learn from her about how to pray?

4 . What did Jesus tell the servants to do (first, next)? How did they respond? What did they have to overcome to obey Jesus? (How many water jars were there and how was this water usually used?) What shows their attitude toward Jesus' command? What can we learn from them?

5. What was the banquet master's comment? What does this reveal about Jesus? (9,10) What blessing did each person at the wedding receive?

6. What does this first sign tell us about Jesus and his ministry? (2 Cc 5:17) About the importance of prayer and obedience? How was Jesus' glory revealed?

* JESUS CLEARS THE TEMPLE (12-22)

7. When and where did the second event take place? What did Jesus find when he went into the temple? What did he do? What did he say?

8. What was the temple that its misuse should make Jesus so angry? (See 2 Ch 7:12-16; 6:l0b-11; 5:7; Ex 25:8,22). How should the temple be used? (Ps 84:10; Isa 56:7b) What was the problem of the religious leaders? (1 Ti 6:10; Lk 16:14)

9. How did the disciples respond to Jesus' actions? (17, Ps 69:9) What does this show about them? When did they really understand? (22) What can we learn from them?
