THE STORM TRAINING

Luke 8:22-25

Key Verse: 8:25a

* A HAPPY VACATION (22-24a)

1. Think about the busy life of Jesus and the disciples. What did Jesus say to them? What might have been their mood as they got in the boat to cross the lake?

2. What was Jesus doing as the disciples navigated the boat across the lake? What does this tell us about him? About his life? (Mk.6:31)

3. What unexpected event happened as they crossed? What danger did they face? What did the disciples fear? How could Jesus sleep through the storm?

4. What did the disciples do? What did they say to Jesus? What does this reveal about them?

* THE STORM TRAINING (24b,25)

5. What did Jesus do when the disciples awakened him?

6. What happened to the desperate situation? What does this reveal about Jesus?

7. How did Jesus rebuke the disciples? What did he see as their real problem? What does this teach us about fear? About faith?

8. How did the disciples respond to Jesus' actions and to his rebuke? Why? What did they realize about Jesus?

9. Think about Jesus who trained his disciples. What kind of training did he give them through this event? What did he want them to learn? (Think about how faith grows through the example of the men of women of faith in Hebrews 11:29,36-38)
