1. Read verses 1-2. Where had Jesus been, and what had he been doing just before? How did people respond when they heard that he had returned to Capernaum? How did he minister to them?

2.   Read verses 3-5. Why could the men carrying a paralytic not get to Jesus?  What did they do? What did Jesus think about their action? What does this teach us about faith?

3. What do Jesus’ words to the paralytic suggest about his real problem?
About Jesus’ love? How is paralysis like sin? In what respect might he be called a sinner?
4. Read verses 6-7. What did the teachers of the law think about Jesus’ words? Why?

5. Read verses 8-12. What did Jesus say? What did he do? What did he teach about himself? How did the people respond?
