ONE WHO CAUSES OTHERS TO SIN
 

Mark 9:30-50
Key Verse: 9:50 – “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again?  Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other.”
 

1. Read verses 30-32.  Where was Jesus going?  What did he teach his disciples?  When had he taught this before? (9:12; 8:31)  What was the meaning?             (Isa 53:4-6) Why didn’t they understand? (Eph 1:18)
 

2. Read verses 33-34.  What had they been arguing about on the road?  Why do men struggle to be the greatest?  Read verse 35.  What did Jesus teach about the way to be truly great?  How does Jesus himself personify greatness?
 

3. Read verses 36-37.  What does it mean to welcome a child in Jesus’ name?  To welcome Jesus?  To welcome the one who sent him?
 

4. Read verses 38-41.  What principle does Jesus teach here?  Why is it important to be generous toward those who do God’s work?  How can we apply this?
 

5. Read verse 42.  How serious is it to cause another to sin?  Why?  Read verses 43-48.  How serious is sin?  How can we deal with temptation?
 

6. Read verses 49-50.  What does it mean to be a salty Christian?  How can we be salty?  Why must we be salty, and also encourage others to be salty?
