THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND DEMONS

Matthew 12:22-37

   "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven,
    but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven,
    either in this age or in the age to come."

 
1. How did the demons affect the man they brought to Jesus? How did
   Jesus help him and what did Jesus reveal about himself?

2. How did the ordinary people respond to the miraculous work of God?
   What did their response mean? Why did they respond like this? How
   did the Pharisees react? Why did they react in such an opposite
   way?

3. Read verses 25-29. What was the logic of Jesus' answer to their
   accusation? What does he teach us about the work of God?

4. Read verses 30-32. What is the serious warning Jesus gives to those
   who attribute the work of God's Spirit to the devil? Why is this
   such a serious matter?

5. Read verses 33-37. How can one distinguish between the work of God
   and the work of demons? How can we speak words and do deeds that
   build up and encourage others? How can we keep our hearts pure?
