THE GREATEST MAN IS A HUMBLE MAN

Matthew 18:1-9
Key Verse: 18:3

    "And he said: `I tell you the truth, unless you change and
     become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom
     of heaven.'"


1.  At that time, about what were the disciples disputing? Why might
   they be engaged in this kind of power struggle? What does this
   reveal about them? When they asked Jesus to settle the matter, what
   might they have expected him to say?

2.  Read verses 2-4. How did Jesus respond? In what respect do they
   need to change and become like children? Why is this a requirement
   to enter the kingdom of heaven?

3.  What is true greatness? What does it mean to humble oneself like a
   little child? Why was Moses called a humble man? (Nu 12:3) Think
   about his life.

4.  In what respect was Jesus humble? (Jn 1:14) How was Paul changed?
   (Think about his struggle for power before he met Jesus.) What did
   he teach about humility? (Php 2:5-7)

5.  Read verses 5-9. What does it mean to welcome a child in Jesus'
   name? To cause a child-like person to sin? Why is selfishness a
   sin?  How does Jesus regard selfish persons who cause others to sin?
   How and why must we deal with sin?
