Revelation 8-9
Key vs. 8:5 "Then the angel took the censer, filled
it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals
of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake."
- Read vs. 1-6. When the Christ opens the seventh seal,
there is silence in heaven. What does it signify? (1) How does the Lord
prepare the trumpet judgments? What is given to the seven angels? (2) How
does another angel offer the prayers of the saints to God? (3,4) How does
he signal the wrath of God upon the earth? (5) Think about the importance
of our prayers (5:8)
- Read vs. 7-9. At the 1st trumpet sound, what
happens to the earth? (7,Ex9:16-18) At the 2nd trumpet sound,
what happens to the sea? (9,Jer51:25) What are the extent and the purpose of the trumpet
judgments? (7,20) What does "a third" represent? (Zec13:8-9)
- Read vs. 10-13. At the 3rd trumpet sound, what
happens to the river and the springs of water? (11,Ex15:22-25). At the 4th
trumpet sound, what happens to the day and the night? (12,Ex10:21) How
would people suffer from the disasters? What are the three “woes”
announced to those who put hope in this world? (13)
- Read vs. 9:1-2. At the 5th trumpet sound, a
star that has fallen from the sky is given the key to the Abyss. What does
the star represent? (1, 11, 12:4, 20:3,7) As he opens the Abyss, what
happens to the sun and the sky? (2) What does it symbolize?
- Read vs. 3-12. How do the locusts torture the unbelievers?
(5,6) What is the extent of the evil operation? How does this judgment
differ from the previous judgments? Describe the appearance of the
locusts. (7-12) What do they symbolize? Where does their power come from? (10,11, IS9:15)
- Read vs. 13-21. At the 6th trumpet sound, how
does the angel kill a third of mankind? (14,15,11:7,13:7) What do the horses and riders symbolize? (17-19) Where does their
power come from? (18,19,13:5) What is the response of the survivors? (20,21)
Think about the phrases that show about God’s control
in the midst of the terrible work of the devil. (4,5,6,15,20)
