Romans 10:1-21
Key Verse 10:9.....   “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

· THE GOSPEL MESSAGE: JESUS IS CHRIST THE LORD (1-13)

1. Read 1-4. What was Paul’s heart’s desire for Israel? What did he know about the Israelites’ zeal for God? (Jn 11:50b;  Lk 18:11,12; Acts 8:1-3) Why can’t one be saved by zeal?

2. What was the knowledge that the Israelites needed in order to be saved? Why didn’t they have it? What is the only way which God has provided for people to be righteous? (3:10, 21-26) Why could they not submit to God’s righteousness?

3. According to Moses, how can men under the law be righteous? (5) Why is it impossible to achieve righteousness by our own effort? What are the answers to the questions in verses 6 and 7? How can we believe the word of God? (8)

4. According to verse 9, what must we do to be saved? Why is it so important to make a confession of faith with one’s own mouth? (Jn 21:15-17; Mt 16:15-17; Lk 8:45-48) Why does confession lead to salvation? (Acts 2:36, 38; 1Pe 3:15)

5. What is the promise of Scripture to those who put their trust in the Lord? (11) To whom is this promise given? What does it mean to “call on the name of the Lord”?

· THE GOSPEL MESSENGERS (14-21)

6. What is the chain reaction of belief described by Paul? What can we learn here about the necessity of missionary calling? How has God chosen to make the message of salvation known to all people?

7. How does Paul and Isaiah describe the beauty of missionary calling? How is faith planted in people’s hearts (17)? How can Paul say that the Israelites have heard the word of the gospel? What did even Moses say about God’s purpose for the Gentile world (19)? What shows that God has not given up on Israel? (21)
