· LOVE MUST BE SINCERE (9-13)

1. What is sincere love (10)?  Why is hatred of evil mentioned as being necessary to sincere love? (Think about Joseph’s case for his brothers. Gen. 44) What does it mean to be devoted to one another?

2. What can we learn in verses 11-13 about how to be a good influence in the body of Christ? Why is this one important way to show love?

· OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD (14-21)

3. Read verse 14. How should we react and act toward people who persecute or take advantage of us? (Matt. 5:10-12) Why is verse 15 a true measure of sincere love?

4. What does verse 16 say about pride? Why is pride a hindrance to following Jesus’ lifestyle?

5. How common is it for worldly people to pay back others (17)? Why? Why must Christians be different? What is the secret to live at peace with everyone? (16,17)?

6. Why do we not have to retaliate? (19) How must we deal with those who are hostile to us? Why? How can we overcome evil? (21)
