Romans 13:1-14
Key Verse: 13:12...  “The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
 

· SUBMIT TO AUTHORITIES (1-7)

1. What should be the Christian’s attitude towards the government under which he lives? Why? (1 Tim 2:1,2; Titus 3:1, 1 Pe  2:13,14) Why did God institute governments?

2. Generally, who are fearful of rulers? How can we be free of such fear? Why is it so important to maintain order in society? What other reasons did Paul give for submitting to governing authorities? (5)

3. Why should Christians pay taxes? What other obligations do we have towards those in authority? (6,7) How does the sovereign God use rulers and governments to accomplish his own purposes?

· THE OBLIGATION TO LOVE (8-10)

4. What is the one debt that remains outstanding? Why should we pay off all other debts?

5. How does loving one’s fellowman fulfill the law? (8-10) In what respect is this obligation to love others a part of our spiritual battle?

· PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD (11-14)

6. What does the phrase, “understanding the present time” mean? How can we understand these times? (Eph 1:18-22) What should be our attitude towards Jesus’ second coming?

7. What does it mean that the night is nearly over and the day is almost here? In light of this, what should we do? How can we clothe ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ?
