NEW DIRECTION FOR OUR NEW LIFE

Romans 6:11-23

Key Verse: 6:13

"Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness."

*  INSTRUMENTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND INSTRUMENTS OF WICKEDNESS (11-14)

1. What does it mean in our practical lives to let sin not reign in your mortal body (12)? Is the battle with sin automatically over when we are born again?

2. What decision of faith must we make (13)? How can we be instruments of righteousness?

3. What promise is given to those who offer the parts of their bodies to God (14)? What is the basis of this promise?

*  SLAVES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SLAVES TO SIN (15-23)

4. Shall we sin freely because we are under grace (15)? To whom is one a slave (16)? What is the result of the one who becomes a slave to sin? What is the result of the one who becomes a slave to righteousness?

5. What was Paul's thanksgiving topic for the Christians in Rome? How did they become slaves to righteousness (17,18)?

6. What is the outcome of offering the parts of our body in slavery to righteousness (19)? What is the difference between our present life as slaves to righteousness and our past life as slaves to sin (19-22)?

7. What is the result of sin (23)? Why do we call death "the wages"? What is the gift of God? Why do we call eternal life "the gift"?
