1. Why is there no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (2)? Explain the meaning of “the law of the Spirit of life” and “the law of sin and death” respectively.
2. Why was the law unable to save men (3)? What did God do for what the law was powerless to do? Why did God send his own Son? What were the requirements of the law (4)?
· Physical People and Spiritual People (5-11)
3. What are the two kinds of people described in verses 5-11? What do physical people think and talk about? Why can such people not please God (8)? What is the outcome of this kind of life?
4. What do spiritual people think about? What is the result? Who controls the Christian (9)? How is it that believing the death and resurrection of Jesus makes us spiritual people (11)?
· We are God’s Children (12-17)
5. To whom do we have an obligation (12)? Why should we not live according to the sinful nature (13)? Who are the sons of God (14)? What is the difference between a son and a slave (15)?
6. Who testifies that we are God’s children (16)? What is our hope and
privilege as God’s children (17)? Think about what the Spirit does for
us when he dwells in us.
