THE WORD BECAME FLESH
Key Verse: 1:14
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
1. What do verses 1 and 2 teach us about Jesus? What does it mean that “he was with God in the beginning”? Why is he called the ‘Word’?
2. Read verses 3-5. What do these verses say about Jesus? And our relationship with him? How does “his life” work for mankind who live in darkness? Why can’t the darkness overcome the light?
3. Read verses 6-13. How did God help people to receive Jesus? How did the response of the world show its depth of darkness? What right does God give to those who believe in him? On what basis?
4. Read verse 14-18. What does it mean that “the Word became flesh”? Why did he become a “man”? How was he born? How did he live and die for us? What does it mean that “he was full of grace and truth”?
